Ode to Poplar

They say a poplar tree is best for its shade
but a shade past white and it’ll lift you up.

What else to do when Sunday morning’s spent
praising the light above. What else to do

but put poplars to work
gettin’ rid of darkness.

He recently returned from Nepal, where he completed his field practicum, and now has his Master’s degree in International Development.
